Argentina: A garden update

The first raindrops after a long, dry, dusty, and windy August are falling as I write this, which is great news for our vegetable garden and even better news for the nearby mountains which were burning just outside the city last week. 2020 can't seem to catch a break, but there are still signs of good out there, even if minuscule. Here is a brief pictorial update on our veggies:

This gorgeous chard is about to have its first stalks harvested and baked into a delicious and savory tart.

All of this green started as teeny tiny seeds inside one tomato. By the looks of it, everyone will be getting tomatoes for Christmas.

We haven't dug out any carrots yet, so we're not sure of their size. The tops are currently a mess of tangled greenery.

Lettuce, celery, and onions, oh my!

The avocado tree that sprouted from a pit last year is starting to gain height! We have another pit that is just starting to sprout, also. Hopefully they are suitable for cross pollination. Getting avocado trees to actually produce fruit is an arduous process requiring years of patience, so we've been told.
