Mexico: Soccer & Language

Tomorrow is the big day. I will be meeting the Estadio Azteca for the first time. This stadium can hold 100,000+ futbol fanatics, and I will be going there to watch the 2014 World Cup qualifier between Mexico and Costa Rica. In preparation for the game, I thought it would be fitting to buy a Mexican soccer jersey of my own. Now that was something way more easier thought than done. After an afternoon of visiting 4 different shopping centers, I finally came across the perfect jersey. As an added bonus, it happens to be the jersey of Mexico's star player, Chicharito. It should be a great game, great atmosphere, great experience overall.

In other news, just as I have been expanding my Spanish vocabulary, I have been helping my friends expand their English vocabulary. For example, the other day at the office a coworker and I were talking about language. We were on the subject of slang words, talking about the differences between English spoken in Minnesota versus English spoken in London. The conversation continued on and I was presented with the opportunity to explain that the words "hick" and "hickey" are unrelated, that they are both nouns, and that "hickey" is not an adjective to describe the noun "hick." Language - it's fascinating.
