Mexico: The Gym

The other day I was in the gym and my pre-workout conversation with the trainer went a little something like this:

Him: Hi there, how are you today?
Me: I feel fat.
Him: Well you've come to the right place. We've got the perfect fix for that. Get on the treadmill and run a 5K, then we'll start your workout for the day.

After running, doing my CrossFit workout of the day, and an intense ab workout, I realized that I had just spent three hours of my day in the gym and loved every second of it. It's the perfect counter to my desire to indulge in the delicious cuisine offered by this city. The trainer suggested that I run at least a 5K each day that I come to the gym, not only to keep myself from feeling fat, but also to prepare for the big race coming up.

I signed up for the Nike 10K here in November. They tell me that it is the biggest race in Mexico in terms of participants...somewhere between 250,000-300,000 runners. Since my peak running days have passed, I'm taking a more casual approach to this race. I will be running with my gym friends...more so for the experience than to break any records.
