Mexico: Being Vegetarian

So, how exactly does a vegetarian fend in Mexico? Quite well, despite the constant interrogation about her reasoning for not eating meat.

I broke the "I'm a vegetarian" news to some friends the other day, and they took this news as I expected: the three of them simultaneously yelled out a prolonged, "Nooooooo!" They basically proceeded to tell me that I can't be friends with them because they love eating meat and I don't eat meat (don't worry - I convinced them that we can still be friends). I have found that people here respect my reasoning, but that doesn't mean that they don't completely understand nor do they agree with it.

The truth is, for as many taco stands and steak houses one can find in Mexico City, there are just as many organic and "green" restaurants. This city has basically everything, I mean it is one of the biggest cities in the world. A girl can find her niche.
