Mexico: My First Day

For some reason, watching the Olympics with Spanish commentary is way better than English. I also enjoy seeing billboards, street signs, and store fronts completely in Spanish. Hearing my host mother calling me to come eat a meal consisting of 5 pounds of quesadillas is another joy - mija, tienes hambre? And listening to my five-year-old host brother tell stories about his trip to Disney World two weeks ago is quite entertaining. Yes, folks: day one in Mexico City can be considered a success.

I wasn't even out of the Benito Juarez airport and my eyes were already proclaimed beautiful on two different occasions. Not to be egotistical, self-centered, or just simply proud of my eyes, but I am slightly tempted to keep a tally of how many times I hear the "You have beautiful eyes" line in the coming months. The count is at three after today.

Today was mostly spent traveling and getting situated into my host family's apartment. More exploration of the city will take place pronto.
